Warhol – Ein Anti-Musical

Warhol – An Anti-Musical World Premiere for the 40th Anniversary of the Modern String Quartet The story of people who all long to be loved and famous seems almost like a preview of our social media age. Its roots are found in Andy Warhol’s dream of a future society where everyone would be famous for 15 minutes. The Modern String Quartet celebrates its 40th anniversary with this self-composed stage work. Andy Warhol was nearly killed when Valerie Solanas shot him three times in the chest. Miraculously, he survived and said it was just art. This musical trip shows the longing and suffering, greatness and downfall through art. New York City: The center of the world moves between Studio 54 and Andy Warhol’s Factory. Marilyn Monroe, Lou Reed, Henry Geldzahler, and Divine – they all manifest in the last, great night of the 70s at the Factory and celebrate Andy’s 40th birthday with him. But the lights of the night already cast long shadows on the legends of their time. A balancing act between avant-garde and evergreen. Modern music is paired with American music from the 1960s and 1970s. Various styles continue to grow imaginatively and are shamelessly mixed. Premiere: May 8, 2023, Munich Gasteig HP8, 8:00 PM Additional performances: May 10, 2023, May 23, 2023, May 27, 2023, June 13, 2023 In cooperation with Gasteig München GmbH Supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media, Neustart Kultur; supported by SEEDmedia | STABER.
